Ventana Fund
Albuquerque, Albuquerque Metro
Community development financial institution financing affordable housing and economic opportunity for underserved New Mexicans statewide.
About
Ventana Fund is an Albuquerque-based nonprofit and certified community development financial institution that provides loans to develop and preserve affordable housing across New Mexico. The organization fills a critical gap in the financing landscape by lending capital to affordable housing developers, nonprofits, and tribal entities that may have difficulty securing conventional financing.
As a CDFI, Ventana Fund channels investment into projects and communities that traditional lenders often overlook. It offers flexible, mission-driven loan products for the acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, and preservation of affordable rental housing, helping to expand and protect the supply of homes available to low-income New Mexicans.
Ventana works with a range of borrowers, including small and emerging developers, established nonprofit housing organizations, and tribal housing authorities. By providing patient, affordable capital and technical support, the fund enables projects that increase access to safe, decent housing in both urban and rural areas, including underserved and tribal communities.
New Mexico faces a significant shortage of affordable housing, and access to financing is one of the key barriers to building and preserving it. Ventana Fund addresses this barrier directly, positioning lending capital as a tool for community development and housing equity. Its loans help bring projects to fruition that might otherwise stall for lack of accessible financing.
Funded through investments from banks, foundations, government programs, and other sources, Ventana Fund recycles capital into ongoing housing development across the state. By focusing specifically on affordable housing finance, the organization plays a behind-the-scenes but essential role in increasing the availability of affordable homes for New Mexico's lower-income residents.
